Attack Standard Drumhead 5 Pack Reviews  4 / 5 based on 3 reviewsI ordered these heads from www.musiciansfriend.com for $19.99. I found myself in need of new heads, and low on funds.
The bass head is definately the best in the pack, it has a really good sound with a lot of punch. The snare has more ring than I like, but that's a small problem easily fixed with some small duct tape squares.
The tom heads, while sounding good, will not hold up under heavy play. I used them for about a 1/2 hour, and they are already denting up. I will be replacing these as soon as I can afford to.
They seem to be well constructed at the hoops.
If you're looking for descent heads at a low cost, these are for you. Like I said, the bass and snare heads are really good. I'm going to replace the tom heads, but I'm going to stick with Attack and try their doudle ply tom heads. Kevin Lightner rated this unit on 2004-07-30. $30 on Musiciansfriend
The Bass drum head is great, the snare is okay for those who like the regular medium thickness heads, can be tuned relatively tight. The hoops look good, the heads look good.
The tom heads died on me soon. I had them tuned relatively low, but they still dented too fast and lost all tone. Now I can only get tone if I tighten the heck outta them. The snare whiteness chips off easily, though that doesn't affect sound much or at all.
The hoops are all pretty good (seem similar in quality to my Evans), and I don't think they can be possibly pulled out. The tom heads dent easily, the snare seems tougher, though it may be because it's tuned tighter.
I don't plan on ever using the tom heads again, but I'll probably buy the pack again to use as batter heads (while actually using the bass drum and maybe snare). Good value, certainly better than stock heads, but unless you like high pitched toms, go with something else for those. PeterS rated this unit on 2004-02-16. I got these heads at musicansfriend.com for $30 plus s/h. I got these heads because I wanted to replace my factory snare batter and bass drum batter heads. When I saw this for only $30 plus tom heads, I couldn't pass it up. This set includes: 1 ply medium clear 12", 13", and 16" tom heads, 1 ply clear No Overtone bass drum head, and a 1 ply medium coated snare head.
My favorite thing about this pack is with out a doubt the bass drum head. It sounds awesome!! The snare head is good too. I put the tom heads on the resonant side (I have Remo Pinstripes on the batters) and they gave my toms a deeper, better sound. Also, this is a VERY reasonable price for a full drumhead set.
I like 2 ply heads better, but thats more preferance.
These heads are 1 ply, clear (except for the snare) and very good quality. Artists such as Raymond Herrara (Fear Factory), Eric Singer (Kiss), and Terry Bozzio use Attack drumheads.
I would tell any drummer, begginer, hobbyist, or pro to get this pack. They sound great and you can't beat the price. pls138 rated this unit on 2003-12-26.
